Anne Kolb Nature Center
West Lake Park, 750 Sheridan St, Hollywood 926-2410. Experience this 1,430+ acre wetland habitat for wading birds and other native wildlife. Tidewater Tours offers educational boat tours. The Center also includes an Intracoastal fishing pier and environmental exhibit hall. Free.

Beach Place 
A1A between Castillo St and Cortez St, Fort Lauderdale. New 100,000-sq.-ft. shopping, dining and entertainment complex.

Billie Swamp Safari 
Big Cypress Reservation, (941) 954-983-6101. Learn about the land, history and culture of the Seminole Indians. Skim over glittering waterscapes in an airboat, paddle a canoe, walk the Swamp Trail and come face-to-face with the resident alligators.

Bonnet House 
900 N Birch Rd, Fort Lauderdale 954-563-5393. ext 127 A 35-acre subtropical, historical estate. Open year-round: Tues.-Sat 10am-4pm, and Sun. 12 pm-4 Last tour 2:30pm. Closed Mon. some holidays and entire month of September.

Buehler Planetarium
Broward Community College Campus, 3501 SW Davie Rd, Davie 954-475-6680. State-of-the-art facility. Laser light shows, astronomy and space exploration. Telescope viewing after evening shows. Call for show schedules.

Butterfly World 
3600 W Sample Rd, Coconut Creek 977-4400. Stroll through three acres of lush tropical gardens while thousands of live, brilliantly colored butterflies soar around. Waterfalls, fish, hummingbirds, orchids and roses complete natural habitat. Mon.-Sat. 9am-5pm, Sun. 1-5pm. closes 4pm.

Camping
In Broward County, five county parks offer campgrounds: C.B. Smith, Easterlin, Markham, Quiet Waters, and T.Y. All but Quiet Waters offer sites with full RV hookups, and all have picnic tables, charcoal grills, and restroom complexes with hot showers. C.B. Smith and T.Y. include laundry rooms, while T.Y.’s restrooms are also air-conditioned. The area around the Easterlin park office, not far from the campground, offers a Wi-Fi "hot spot."
